The degree was first established in the early 90's as a response to the growing impact of the new digital technology on most aspects of our society and the need of industry for graduates with new and appropriate knowledge and skills and was one of the first, if not the first, BA degree course in interactive multimedia in the UK.
Unlike most other Interactive Media (Multimedia) courses, which either focus intently on the technical or the visual aesthetic aspects of the discipline, Interactive Media occupies a unique position between these two extremes. Interactive Media offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in interface and interaction design, image composition, web design and development, digital sound, streaming media, and critical and creative thinking.
Assessment is predominantly course work based. There are opportunities to work individually and in groups on various projects during the course of study. Students have access to well equipped computer labs, and dedicated facilities for recording, editing and streaming sound and video.
