BIMA Member News: 4T2 and LEGO over the moon about recent award

Article Date: 24th Jul 2008

The game, described by the award judges as “a stand-out winner”, has been played 8.1 million times since it was launched in August 2007. It allows children to mine crystals, build LEGO Martian bases and defend them from alien attack. Each of the game’s 33 levels begins with an animation that explains the storyline and introduces new LEGO equipment. As well as being fun, the real-time strategy format has strong educational benefits for the children playing: from developing tactical skills to resource planning and refining their co-ordination.

4T2 director, Mike Hawkyard, commented: “The team here is delighted to have won this award. We work with children from local schools to test and develop our ideas, making sure everything we create is really fun and engaging for their age group. This award recognises the strength of this approach and the creative and technical skills of our team”.

Fingers crossed it will do as well at the BIMAs!
