Ramp MD To Speak At BIMA Breakfast Bite

Article Date: 12th Mar 2008

The Art of Advocacy Explained
In the first of this year’s series of educational ‘Breakfast Bites’, the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) is hosting a presentation on Word of Mouth and Advocacy by Andy Crysell, MD of Ramp Industry.

The intimate gathering, at London’s Soho House, will explore the significance of word-of-mouth, brand advocacy and the role played by content in arming the audience to become on behalf of a brand.
Drawing on his experience of extensive research and insight for the likes of Channel 4, The Guardian, River Island and Sony PlayStation, Andy will look at how the audience, particularly in the digital world, has become the medium and how brands should be using advocates to shape, tell and distribute their stories through word of mouth.
According to Andy, “Online advocates are connected, hungry for information and, most importantly, vocal. It’s important for brands to locate the networks and communities that will best spread their message, identify the social glue that binds them and then create the content that will most effectively arm and mobilise them.”
He goes on to say “The digital space makes advocacy tangible. Brands can make use of this by creating contagious products that can be used exponentially, advertising themselves and, most importantly, provoking an emotional response.”
Paul Walsh, BIMA Chair, says “Our breakfast bites are designed to offer inspiration to people working in the digital world. Word of mouth is fast becoming an essential marketing tool, and having Andy share his and Ramp’s knowledge is a great start to this year’s series of events.”
BIMA Breakfast Bites is an education series from BIMA that showcases industry specialists speaking on the most prevalent issues of the day. Bites run every four to six weeks and are a place to begin your thinking on a topic, facilitate easy networking and launch you into your day with some new ideas and insights. Future speakers include Stephanie Matthews from Channel 4, and Ted Hunt, Digital Manager for innocent drinks.
Andy Crysell will be presenting at the BIMA Breakfast Bite from 8:30am - 10:00am on Tuesday March 18th at Soho House Members’ Club, W1.
